Witchy Lies We’ve Told Ep. 10: Children Born Out of Wedlock Are Born in Sin

Stop. And fuckin’ listen.

This lie has been weaponized against women, mothers, and children for generations. The church told me my babies were “born in sin” because I wasn’t married. As if paperwork could determine their worth. As if a ring or a pew could make my motherhood holy.

But here’s what they didn’t know: My children were planned. Loved. Wanted. They have a father who loves them deeply—we just didn’t need a church contract to validate our family.

I still tried to do what I was taught. Played sermons at bedtime. Took them to church. Thought I was giving them faith and structure. Instead, they learned judgment. They heard that kids like them—children born outside a legal marriage—were somehow less. Less spiritual. Less worthy. Less accepted.

I handed them to a system that didn’t see their light. And I regret that part. But not them. Never them.

But here’s the truth they didn’t want us to know:
